Must-Have Kitchen Items: Tools, Cookware, and Accessories

I’m inviting you into my kitchen to share my must-have kitchen tools, cookware, and accessories. As I share some of these kitchen must-haves with you, I will give you the added bonus of making Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp. I hope you find this post both helpful and delicious!

If you’ve been following my posts here or on my blog Inspired by Charm, you’ve probably noticed that I love spending time in my kitchen. With a passion for cooking, baking, and sharing recipes, I often find myself hanging out in the kitchen.

Over the years, I’ve built up an arsenal of kitchen tools that make my cooking and baking more functional and beautiful. As stated in many of my other posts, when I visit HomeGoods, the kitchen section is one of the first areas of the store that I go to. I love checking out the latest tools, gadgets, baking dishes, small appliances, and so much more!

If you’ve never perused the kitchen section of a HomeGoods store, it’s something you don’t want to miss. In fact, I’m fairly certain that you could outfit an entire kitchen just from one shopping trip to HomeGoods. They have everything.

With that being said, I thought it would be fun to share some of my must-have kitchen HomeGoods finds. And to do that, I thought we could whip up a recipe together. Sound good?

With a big patch of rhubarb ripe for the picking in my garden, Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp is on the menu today. This is one of my favorite flavor combinations in a dessert. I know you’re going to love it too. You can find the full recipe at the bottom of this post.

Let’s get to it!

Kitchen Cookware/Bakeware:

To make this Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp, we need some bakeware. I found this beautiful, white 9×13 pan that I use for everything. It’s great for cakes, brownies, lasagna, dinner rolls, etc.

Some of my other favorite finds include:

– baking pans

– cookware

– small appliances

– specialty cake pans

– pie plates

On one shopping trip, I was even fortunate enough to find this toaster which matches my range.

As you know, I love my specialty baking pans. HomeGoods has those too! Remember the mini cakes I made that looked like vegetables?

If you’re looking for a pan, they will have it. I also love that they often have a great selection of seasonal and holiday bakeware/cookware.

Kitchen Tools:

I’m always stocking up on kitchen tools: wooden spoons, whisks, measuring cups, knives, etc.

I may also have a slight obsession with cutting boards. Naturally, I do use them for their intended purpose (here I’m cutting up my rhubarb and strawberries), but I also love them for serving food or as decorative items in my kitchen.

Some of the kitchen tools I look for are:

– cutting boards

– spatulas/whisks

– measuring cups and spoons

– citrus juicers

– tongs

Other fun and handy tools include citrus juicers, tongs, kitchen scale, parchment paper, serving utensils, etc.

Kitchen Accessories:

While you’re in the kitchen section of HomeGoods, might I also suggest visiting the gourmet section just a few aisles over. There I stock up on cooking oils, spices, my favorite vanilla extract, sprinkles, and more!

A few of my favorites include:

– spices and extracts

– cooking oils

– sprinkles

– serving dishes and plates

– cleaning products

– storage containers / jars

Beyond cooking, you can also fill your cabinets with beautiful glassware, dinner plates, cutlery, napkins, barware, etc. I told you it was a one-stop shop!

And with that, the tour of my kitchen must-haves is complete. And it couldn’t have come at a better time because this Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp is begging me to grab a spoon and dive in. I must oblige.

Since we’re talking about all things kitchen today, I set up this little dessert spread right on my kitchen counter. How fun!

Once you’re stocked up on kitchen goodies from HomeGoods, you must give this recipe a try!

Remember, next time you need a new tool, cooking pan, or baking dish, be sure to swing by your local HomeGoods first. I’m certain you’ll find exactly what you need and then some. Happy Shopping!

Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp Recipe

Filling:

3 1/2 cups chopped rhubarb

3 1/2 cups hulled and chopped fresh strawberries

1 1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup flour

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

juice of 1/2 lemon

Topping:

2 cups quick cooking oats

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

Optional: vanilla ice cream for serving

Begin by preheating your oven to 375 degrees F. Spray a 9×13 baking pan with baking spray. Set aside.

In a large bowl add the rhubarb, strawberries, sugar, flour, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Toss gently to evenly combine. Set aside.

In another large bowl, stir together the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Add the cubed butter and mix together with your hands or a wooden spoon until the butter is about pea-sized.

Add about 2 1/2 cups of the topping to the bottom of your prepared baking dish. Press flat. Add in the strawberry rhubarb filling and spread out evenly with a spatula. Sprinkle the remaining topping over top of the filling.

Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the top is brown and the filling is bubbling.

Allow to cool for at least 15 minutes before serving. Optional: serve with a spoon of vanilla ice cream.
