7 Tips for Creating a Cozy Christmas Bedroom
December 09, 2020
A twinkling tree, fairy lights, candles and all that Christmas cheer makes the house feel so magical during the holidays.
The holiday season is full of hustle and bustle and busy. Though this year the holidays are looking a bit different without the parties and big gatherings-that doesn’t mean that we can’t deck the halls and enjoy all that magic and what Christmas is all about.
This year more than ever- I think we need more of that Christmas cheer. I have been craving all that twinkle light magic- and creating a cozy home and place to relax and soak up the season a bit more has been key. And one of my favorite places to add Christmas magic is our bedroom.
Your bedroom is where you start the day everyday and where you relax a bit before going to sleep. I am a big Christmas all through the house kind of girl. I love going from room to room by twinkling tree light- and enjoying that Christmas magic in the bedroom while reading or watching t.v. is such a treat. So today is all about 7 simple ways to create a cozy Christmas bedroom this holiday season.
Start with a tree
No matter what size your bedroom is- adding a twinkling tree instantly fills the room with Christmas cheer. For smaller rooms- think tabletop trees or even a tiny potted tree on the nightstand. If you have the space- add a big tree to a corner for some Christmas magic.
Candles on repeat
Cozy and candles kind of go together- and they create that lovely warm glow that we all love during the holidays and winter. I added taper candles to the fireplace mantel and smaller jar candles to tables and the nightstand. Of course, safety first-if you are using real candles- don’t ever leave those candles unattended and even better- use faux candles for a no worry glow.
I love battery operated twinkle lights for adding that cozy ambiance anywhere. For this fireplace – which is a faux fireplace- I added a strand to the wood in the firebox for a bit of twinkly charm.
Garland and ornaments
Beautiful Christmas ornaments and garland aren’t just for the tree. Think outside the box (or tree) and add them anywhere you would like a festive touch. Drape a garland on a table or place a bowl of ornaments on the night stand for a simple touch of Christmas.
Add seasonal artwork
I love to add a piece of seasonal inspired art in the bedroom. A few favorites are simple gilded tree silhouettes or charming landscapes that echo colors of the season.
Create a sitting area
After you have done all the work to deck the bedroom halls- don’t forget to create a cozy spot to sit and enjoy it. I love this reproduction French style chair to relax in and added a charming marble and brass table that was instant love when I found it. Perfect for holding flowers or a cup of hot tea.
Layers of velvet
One of the best things I have added to the bedroom this season is lots of layers of velvet.
Velvet instantly makes the bed feel luxurious and elegant. With pillows on repeat and a soft quilt – those layers truly create a haven at home feeling.
This quilt is such a beautiful shade of slate gray / blue that seems to change color just a bit as the lighting does throughout the day. And I love that extra warm and cozy feeling – it is perfect for keeping a chill at bay too.
Adding Christmas cozy and charm to the bedroom can be as simple as placing a vase full of fresh clipped greens or a single branch from a tree on the wall or mantel for an accent. The best tip is just simply add what seasonal accents that you love and create a room that is perfect for you to enjoy this holiday season.
Happy decking the halls everyone!
