Furniture and Home Accents

Hi, actress Malin Akerman here! I often travel for work, so I put a lot of effort into making my home an inviting and functional space to enjoy with my family when I’m in Los Angeles. My style is a mix of Moroccan, rustic, and sleek modern elegance, which is why I love to shop at HomeGoods! You just never know what gems you’ll stumble on and they have pieces that speak to every style. Keep reading for a look at how I refreshed & organized my entertainment room, office nook, and son’s bedroom for the year ahead!
Entertainment Room:
    • Refresh: When I was exploring the aisles of HomeGoods for pieces to make this space feel new, I found these amazing sapphire velvet chairs with brass detailing. It’s key to have an inspirational piece when designing a space, and as soon as I saw these chairs, I knew I had to have them!
    • Organize: To keep this room clutter-free, I was on the hunt for beautiful but functional storage, like this awesome wooden credenza with herringbone detailing. I love that I can hide my son’s toys, games, and barware inside to keep the room organized.I also placed hand-woven baskets around the room for extra pillows and throws to keep things neat!

Office Nook:
    • Refresh: This nook off to the side of my entertainment room used to go unnoticed, so I brought in some statement pieces in blue tones to integrate the space with the rest of the entertainment room. I hung a fabulous macramé wall hanging and floral print, and love the way it brightened up the space!
    • Organize: To create the functional workspace I’ve been needing, I added a sleek desk, rolling file cabinet, fun desk accessories, and a table lamp — all for under $300!
My Son’s Bedroom:
    • Refresh: My son’s been wanting a “big boy room,” so I know he’s going to flip over these red blankets (his favorite color!) and wizard-patterned sheets. I also snagged a grey-patterned rug and layered it with a fuzzy faux-fur area rug to make the space extra cozy.

    • Organize: My son’s also a little inventor, so I wanted his new room to have a workspace for homework or his next creative project. I knew I found a winner when I came across this wooden leaning desk with shelving storage! I also snagged some red, blue-and-white striped, and buffalo check storage cubes for just $14.99 each to help organize his bookshelf and store his toys.
If you’re looking to refresh and organize your home, I highly recommend checking out everything your local HomeGoods has to offer! You’ll find storage and workspace options, plus beautiful décor, for every room in the house! What room are you eager to revamp this year?
