Stylish Inspiration for Summer Porch Entertaining
April 15, 2021
Once summer hits, I try to spend a lot of time outdoors. That’s why I think it’s important to make outdoor spaces as comfortable as indoor ones.
I recently visited my local HomeGoods to pick up new goodies for my outdoor areas along with a few accessories for summertime porch entertaining. I thought it’d be fun to show you around my outdoor space and share a few ideas for effortless and stylish summer entertaining. Let’s get to it!
First things first, if you need outdoor furniture, head to HomeGoods. They have the most beautiful sets and single furniture pieces. I just purchased my patio furniture last year, so I resisted the urge to buy new. – Of course, that doesn’t mean I wasn’t tempted.
I did, however, pick up new pillows. These blue striped ones work perfectly with the existing color scheme of my porch. I also found palm leaf pillows to add a fun splash of color to the space.
These new pillows tie in beautifully with the entertaining accessories I also got at HomeGoods! One of my favorites is this set of melamine nesting bowls. As you can see, I scattered them around the porch. Some contain lemons for lemonade, another is filled with watermelon slices, and still another holds chips. I love nesting bowls like these because when spread around an area, their similar look helps tie things together. Their interesting design also adds a special touch to any party.
When it comes to outdoor entertaining, I like to mix in a few “indoor” items as well. That’s why, for this gathering, I used real glassware along with melamine plates. I focus on colors and patterns rather than materials.
I also couldn’t resist using these glasses I found at HomeGoods. I love the blue and rattan sleeves. Not only do they go with my decor, but they add interesting detail.
For the food, I kept things simple and summery. Light snacks seem most appropriate for warm weather, so I offered a spread of cheese, grapes, watermelon, crackers, and chips. This fare is simple to throw together when you have impromptu afternoon porch gatherings.
I paired my food offerings with this cucumber lemonade drink from the gourmet section at HomeGoods. I like picking up beverages like this. You can serve them as is or add a splash of liquor to create a quick and easy adult beverage.
This time of year one of my other favorites at HomeGoods is their wide selection of glazed clay pots. For my home, I went with mostly white. Every year I’ve been buying a few more pots to add to my collection. I love how flowers and foliage stand out against the white.
One other find I’m super excited about is just beyond my porch. When I saw this adorable Buddha statue, I decided to create a little moment around him. I’m calling it “Buddha and Begonias.” The statue is in the center, encircled with pots of begonias. It’s so peaceful!
With these additions and tweaks, my porch is now ready for summer entertaining. Whether you’re having a party for one or a small group of friends, hanging out on the porch is a delightful way to spend a summer afternoon.
I hope you picked up some ideas for styling your outdoor entertaining spaces. Have a fabulous summer!
