Entertaining and Recipes

One of my favorite things about spring entertaining is the color. After a long, gray, snowy winter I’m more than ready to infuse bright hues and a little whimsy into my home decorating.

I thought it would be helpful to show you an electric and colorful dining tablescape that I pulled together for spring. Whether you’re celebrating Easter, hosting a baby/bridal shower, or having a few friends over, I hope this post will give you ideas for making entertaining this time of year extra special.

Let’s get to it!

The inspiration for my spring table started with a shopping trip to my local HomeGoods. There, I stumbled upon this abstract artwork. I thought the pinks, mauves, and purples were perfect for the new season.

After that, I went to the dining section of HomeGoods and was tickled to find iridescent/oil slick-inspired cutlery. This finish has been trending lately so I was thrilled to see it. I knew it would bring something modern and interesting to this tablescape.

As I was putting the cutlery in my cart, I spotted teacups.

Now, I realize that trendy contemporary flatware might not go with fussy floral teacups. However, I like a lot of styles, and I’m not afraid to mix things up. To me, the combination was magnificent. To make sure things coordinated on the table, I chose teacups that picked up colors in the flatware.

From there, I got a few other goodies. Those included a tablecloth which I cut into napkins, white vases for flowers, and a container of colorful foil-wrapped chocolate eggs.

To help my bright accessories pop. I bought an exquisite set of white bone china dinner plates and bowls. These will be lovely for spring and beyond!

With my goodies toted up, I trucked home and began my tablescape. The combination of styles and pops of bold hues were better than I could have imagined.

To corral my vases, I used a round wooden cutting board. I filled them with tulips and roses. What’s a spring table without a few blooms, right?

In true IBC style, I couldn’t resist adding a sweet treat to my spring entertaining tablescape. Using a bunny cake mold from HomeGoods, I made an incredible purple bunny-shaped crispy rice treat. Cute and delicious, this sweetie is an adorable centerpiece on my sideboard.

I also decided to fill my little bowls with paper grass and a few chocolate eggs. This is something my guests can enjoy at the table or take home for later.

While so much of this table puts a smile on my face, I must say that the colorful flatware might be my favorite part. It’s so unique and unexpected. I know I’ll be using it again and again.

And with that, I’m ready to host an eclectic and colorful spring gathering. What do you think?

Thanks to the bunny and eggs, there are definitely touches of Easter on this table, but you could easily eliminate those elements if they don’t suit your celebration.

I hope my table gives you ideas for your own eclectic and colorful spring entertaining.
