Organization and Cleaning

Happy New Year! I’m sure by now you’ve already thought through many of the personal, career and business goals you want to achieve in 2019. Even though it’s just a turn of a new day, there’s something so refreshing about entering a new year. It’s a fresh start. It’s your chance to become an even better you. But to make sure that we achieve those goals, we have to get in order. Order or organization, is typically one of those “to-dos” that stays on the list for weeks on end. Unless you’re really into it, it’s just not that exciting. I always say, “In order to get me interested, make it pretty.” In today’s blog post, that’s exactly what we are going to talk about: Stylish Organization, that will keep you inspired to continue working towards your goals all year round.

So let’s now take a peek into my stylish home office!

I’m a full time entrepreneur who loves working out of pretty rooms. And I’m quite sure I’m not the only one. In 2018 I wasn’t as orderly as I should have been. And lack of organization can cost you time and money. So I knew in 2019 I needed order; but stylish organization to be exact.

One of the first things I do before decorating any space, whether it be a bedroom, home office, office at work, cubicle, etc, you want to make sure you list out everything you need that space to do for you. Ask yourself, how do I need this space to work for me? In what ways does this space need to function in order for me to be successful in xyz.

For me, I knew I needed to have a designated space for my camera equipment, contracts, invoices and other filing needs, a space for my journals (I’m sort of obsessed), pens, notepads…pretty much everything needed to run my business needed a “home”. And the organization system needed to be beautiful enough that I actually use it LOL. So of course I stepped into HomeGoods to find everything I needed to be stylish and functional.

Here are a few ideas for stylish organization:

File sorters are great desktop organizers that now come in beautiful glass designs like this one I picked up from HomeGoods.

Boxes are a great way to hide things like camera equipment, pictures, paper, receipts etc. They come in man sizes, and many styles to fit your needs and taste.

File Folders, are great for sorting out all your paper needs. And they too come with pretty patterns on the outside now.

Bookends are not your typical organization tool, but they do make the many books that we have, look more orderly.

Small trays are great for keeping things like push pins, or paper clips from ending up everywhere.

Desktop drawer sets are great for keeping other office supplies, or in my case jewelry in one centralized location. I snagged this mirrored drawer set that of course does the job, but you can check to see if your lipstick is on correctly too (double win).

If you can add shelving, You definitely should because it can house your boxes, books and other things that you may not use every day.

Hooks are a great organization tool to hold things such as scarves, purses, hats, belts, coats etc, but can also be decorative when not in use.

Clear draw organizers are the best way to keep your draws from getting junkie. I usually check out the kitchen section of HomeGoods. A lot of the same organization we use in our kitchen, can be very useful in our office. They come in a variety of sizes, and compartments to suit your organization needs.

Of course, don’t forget to hang artwork that’s inspiring to you, light a candle and grab some fresh flowers. You owe it to yourself to be in a functional and stylish environment, that helps you focus more on your goals and work, and less on the clutter around you. Cheers to a new year that functionally, and stylishly suits you!
