Entertaining and Recipes

I am always looking for enjoyable, creative, and delicious ways to ring in another year! That’s why I decided to celebrate this January 1 with a Bloody Mary Bar.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but bar carts have become a popular home accessory as of late. There are many reasons for this, of course. Bar carts are highly functional when you’re entertaining. You can stock them to suit your celebration or occasion. Plus, most carts have wheels so you can roll them where you need them.

I also love having a bar cart because it’s fun to style. In fact, I just put together a post on my blog (Inspired by Charm) in which I share creative holiday bar cart ideas. You can find that here.

For New Year’s Day, I thought it’d be great to have a bar cart styled and ready to welcome family and other visitors.

At first, I envisioned a mimosa bar, but as I was walking through the gourmet section of HomeGoods, I changed my mind when I saw Bloody Mary mix. (This kind of inspiration is a common occurrence when I #GoFinding at HomeGoods.)

In that aisle with the Bloody Mary mix, I found olives, pickles, spices, hot sauce, peanuts, and more. Of course, into my shopping cart, they went. I knew this was going to be good.

I also checked out the glassware section where I got modern highball glasses for serving the Bloody Marys, a beautiful gold cocktail shaker set, and brass cocktail picks. All of these items would suit my set-up perfectly!

With my purchases from HomeGoods (and some vodka), I was ready to get things styled for the big day.

You could include lots more – everything from cooked bacon to shrimp to fried mozzarella sticks. (Yes, I’ve seen all of those served in a bloody mary.) However, I decided to keep things simple on my cart.

I styled everything on my small gold bar cart and included plates, napkins, and seasonal decor.

The Bloody Mary add-ins (olives, pickles, nuts, etc.) were placed in white serving dishes that I also got at HomeGoods. I love having these pieces because they always come in handy for entertaining.

I likewise provided celery sticks and lemons. Since I like both of those in my Bloody Mary, I assumed other folks might as well.

As for the vodka, your favorite brand will do nicely. Although I didn’t have any on hand, it’s great to include black pepper vodka or jalapeño vodka for people who like things extra spicy.

And with that, I’d say my Bloody Mary Bar is complete and ready for toasting a healthy and happy new year with my guests.

You can certainly set up your cart any way you’d like, but I hope this gives you some ideas and inspiration. Cheers and all good things in the new year!
