Call me crazy, but I love tablescapes. Because I style so many tables (and they are often for my work), not all of them get to be appreciated in real life. But I so enjoy snapping pictures of them to share with you here and on my blog, Inspired by Charm. I hope my designs will give you inspiring ideas for your own table.

Today, I’m excited to walk you through my latest holiday table as I share a few tips on how I pulled it together. Let’s get going.

Find Inspiration.

No matter what you’re decorating, it’s helpful to have a bit of inspiration or a theme to start you off in the right direction. For this table, my inspiration came from a box of glass ornaments at HomeGoods. Not only did I love the light blue, white, silver, and gold, but the patterns and textures suggested a modern-meets-country look.

On that shopping trip, I also found these galvanized houses. I knew they would complement the design, so into my cart they went.

Think Outside the Box.

Or in this case, think outside the tree. If you know me or follow my blog, you may be aware of my vast collection of Christmas ornaments. Since I like to decorate a new tree every year, my collection continues to grow. That’s why I use ornaments in different ways.

Since these ornaments inspired my tablescape, I decided to scatter them down a white fur runner. This is a super simple way to amp up interest and add color. Taper candles in a modern holder and artful deer complete the arrangement.

I also put ornaments on a gold tray on my sideboard. I think every styling moment deserves a bit of sparkle, and these ornaments boost the bling.

Get Creative.

For the place settings, I used these decorative dinner plates I found at HomeGoods this past summer. When I purchased them, I had no particular plan for how I’d use them. I simply loved them and knew they’d find their way into one of my tablescapes. I think they coordinate beautifully with my theme.

To dress up the place setting, I wanted something unique. As I was looking in the cookware section of HomeGoods, I spied these snowflake cookie cutters. In white and silver, they make a lovely finishing touch on my table. (I added the pom-pom ribbon.)

Add a Touch of Nature.

I’m always amazed at what a botanical element, such as a houseplant or flower, can bring to a styling project.

On the day I was setting up this shoot, my landscaper was planting bayberry bushes in my yard. When I saw what he had trimmed from the plants, I was inspired!

I placed a small shoot of the bayberry on each place setting and had enough twigs left over to fill two small white pitchers on my sideboard. Too cute! For the holidays, look to your own yard for inspiration. Pine branches and other evergreens will likewise offer scent and color.

And with that, my holiday table is set and ready for entertaining.

I hope you enjoyed this look around my dining room and gathered a few ideas for your own holiday styling. Happy decorating, my friends!
