Create a welcoming guest bedroom

Bed and Bath

My guest bedroom was screaming for a refresh to turn it into the welcoming retreat I wanted for my friends and family.

I try to put myself in my guests shoes and provide everything they might need as well as a few thoughtful touches. I knew I could find everything I needed, from pillows to bedding to accent furniture to accessories, at HomeGoods and find everything I did!

A colorful rug with giant tassels is a great “welcome mat” at the entrance of the room. Once inside, it’s all about getting a good night sleep and what’s better than sliding between cool, crisp sheets? I’m a big fan of all white bedding with lots of texture and details like the cute ruffle on these sheets and the raised pattern on the matelasse quilt. Pillows and throws add color and pattern.

A small wood table makes the perfect nightstand and I love using trays to corral little necessities like a carafe of water with drinking glass and a candle (don’t forget to include a book of matches). Good reading lights are a must as well as a selection of books.

I always bring life into the bedroom with easy to care for plants and fresh flowers. Bonus: plants help purify the air. This small rope bench acts as a plant stand but is can also double as a luggage rack.

Last but not least, I like to surprise my guests with a personalized note on a letter board and make sure to let them know when it’s time to come downstairs for cocktails!
