Entertaining and Recipes Seasonal Decor

All Hallows’ Eve is almost here. That’s why I’m sharing ghoulishly good tips for styling a spooky chic Halloween table!

I so enjoy decorating for Halloween! One reason is that it’s such a forgiving holiday. Nothing needs to look “perfect” or be overly fussy. In fact, the more disheveled, dark, and creepy, the better!

If you’ve been to HomeGoods this time of year, you know that the Halloween and fall section is amazing. I was super excited to #GoFinding there this year in search of new and unusual “tricks and treats.” Needless to say, I was not disappointed. I found exactly what I needed to create this freakishly festive table.

Over on my blog, Inspired by Charm, I’ll be sharing recipes inspired by this Spooky Chic Halloween Table, so be sure to pop on over there this Halloween season. You can also follow me on Instagram (@inspiredbycharm) where I’ll keep you updated with all things Halloween!

Let me show you what I created and share a few ideas on styling your own table.

Pick a Theme.

Anytime I’m designing a space or a tablescape, I start with a theme. Although shopping is a lot of fun, it can be overwhelming when you want everything you see! Having a theme (even something as simple as a color direction) can give you a focus when shopping. It will also give your space a more cohesive look when your styling is complete.

Here you can see I went with a black and white skeleton-inspired theme. Perfect for Halloween! As I was on my #GoFinding mission in HomeGoods, I kept an eye out for things that fit my theme.

Think Spooky Chic.

As I mentioned above, the rules for decorating for Halloween are looser. I still like to keep things stylish, so I aim for “spooky chic.” That simply means following some rules of design, while also having fun with all the creepy crawly goodies of this haunted holiday.

An example of spooky chic might be a beautiful wine glass that has faux spiders crawling up it or a lovely piece of art paired with an illustration of a skeleton.

Another example is creating exquisite flower arrangements, but picking blooms and stems that are dark in color or a bit odd and mysterious looking.

See what I mean?

Get Creative.

If you ever wanted a chance to weird up your decor or try something new, Halloween is the time. That hand skeleton in your floral bouquet won’t look out of place. And although people might look twice, they won’t bat an eye at your bowl of “eyeballs.”

Once you have your theme, run with it.

I also recommend looking at things in different ways. When I found a garland of gold keys. I decided to remove the keys from the garland and use them to decorate my dinner plates. It’s details such as this that make a table special.

Shop Outside the Halloween Section.

My final tip is to look beyond the Halloween section. That big silver candelabra and unique test tube vase came from the clearance aisle at HomeGoods.

At Halloween, I also like to check out the candle section and glassware and table linens. Styled in the right way, such items work wonderfully for the holiday.
