Small Patio Makeover
August 10, 2018
When it comes to small spaces, I love a good challenge! When I was asked to work on this patio, I knew I had to think big. Small was an understatement. This patio is TINY! I guess that’s the price you pay if you want to live in a trendy downtown area. During the summer nights, it’s nice to be able to head outside with a glass of wine in hand and a charcuterie board to unwind for the night. I wanted to make sure this space was sort of a sanctuary that was both comfortable and welcoming for the host and guests alike. I also wanted to make sure it wasn’t too crowded because it was already a small space as it is.
This bench was something they already owned so I decided to just add seat and back cushions to give it more life. This was also to make it look less like a bench and more like a sofa in a way. I wanted to make sure it didn’t look too cheap and predictable.
Here’s a before picture of what their patio looked like. It just goes to show you how adding a little decor and fresh flowers can change a space drastically.
Can we talk about these pillows? I made them myself and I am in love with the way they turned out! I took basic white pillows and painted on my own design with a black marker. Seriously, a black marker! It’s an easy, cheap, and fun way to give a space your own special touch.
I decided to add some curtains to make the space look cozy and homey. It also adds a bit of a luxurious feeling and not mention some privacy. I was worried that the curtains would make the space feel smaller but they actually make it look bigger!
String lights can make any space feel warm and cozy! It doesn’t matter if the space is big or small. I love adding string lights to any outdoor space to make it feel more complete.
Can’t forget the flowers and greenery! It makes your space look full of life and adds that pop of color that any great space needs!
This rug was a great finds at HomeGoods! As soon as I saw it I knew it was perfect for this space. As always, Homegoods has everything that you need!
Thank you all for stopping by my blog and I hope you enjoyed this small patio makeover! Don’t forget to stop by your local HomeGoods to find unexpected treasures! Go Finding
