Kids are at home, so now what can I do to keep them entertained?” I’ve heard this question so many times from desperate moms (including myself). While the option of sending them to camp sometimes can be a bit budget challenging, finding things to keep them entertained all Summer is just a HomeGoods trip away.

You know the drill, “I need to go to HomeGoods for a planter … (2 hours later) … and then I found some pillows, a beautiful chair for that awkward corner and even stuff for the little ones”. I’ve done this trip a thousand times and every time I find a great surprise. This time around I found for the little ones some interesting and fun pieces that will definitively keep them busy for a while!

Lets Craft a Birdhouse

Crafting is one of my favorite hobbies and after watching me for so long, now my little ones now enjoy taking time to make art and to craft. At HomeGoods, I found a wooden birdhouse (paint included) in the kid’s area. My girls loved it and were eager to personalize each side. While I could’ve brought home two of these little houses; I love the fact that during this activity they practice sharing and to work as a team.

Art on the Sidewalk

What kid doesn’t love to draw with chalk on over the sidewalk? I think they all do! This activity allows them to expand their creativity in a bigger area than paper. They can even use the texture of the floor to make interesting designs. On my recent HomeGoods trip, I brought home a set of colorful chalk that came with a handle that allowed different colors so they could create anything from rainbows to zig-zags lines.

Bubbles

Bubbles are another great way to kill time; even I enjoy blowing bubbles in the air. My little ones love to twirl, blow and even when they have that magic wand in their hands.

Bean Bag Toss

I found this game at HomeGoods and it was a hit at home. It can be used in two different angles depending on the little one skills. The real trick here was for them to take turns because they all wanted to be first!

Snack Time:

I made snack time a fun time with some melamine plates and cups from the kid’s area at HomeGoods. The assortment at stores was amazing, and I came home with a set of cute illustrated fruits.

Pool Time!

Yes, HomeGoods also has inflatable pools on stores! I still can’t believe it. This was the best find from my recent trip since my girls spent most of the afternoon and even early evening swimming and having fun in this pool. This model even came with a sitting area that they loved!

Here is a picture of my girls finishing up this day with some colorful towels with the most beautiful patterns.

After all this playing and lots of fun in the sun, nighttime was a breeze for Mom. Now I’m ready to use my new set of wine glasses (from HomeGoods, of course) and some me time. Cheers to great finds!
