Outdoor Living Seasonal Decor

The sun, the breeze and some plants! All of these make for the perfect setting for an outdoor area. For me – adding my personal style and touch to an outdoor area makes it that much more special and makes me feel much more at home. Whether you have an outside area you can use all year or just a few months – it should not be overlooked! You should still build your backyard oasis and create a space you love.  HomeGoods makes it easy to revamp your space on any budget.

Besides the usual outdoor accessories we’re all fan of, there are some pieces you can easily incorporate into your patio’s decor to make it that much more special! Style your outdoor like you do inside your home to assure that unique feeling of personal satisfaction.

Sometimes we take the pieces that will go into an outdoor are for granted and think that everything has to be labeled “outdoor” in order to fulfill its purpose. But this is far from being always true! I have decorated my favorite corner in our patio using many items than you could easily be found inside my home.

Garden stool and/or side table:

We’ve all heard about the many uses of garden stools. They can serve as an additional seating place but also, they are very useful pieces when we want to add height. Here I’ve use a glazed ceramic garden stool not just to place a plant, but to generate interested with its height. This stool’s style and color (a wonderful find from HomeGoods) were the perfect match to go with my outdoor exciting furniture.

Another amazing piece I found at HomeGoods was this circular metal four legged “side table” which I know will stand the Miami weather. I’ve already use this as an impromptu ottoman. What would you use it for?

The Rug:

Don’t we all love to use a pretty rug inside our homes? So why not extend this look to the outdoor area! HomeGoods just started bringing lots of amazing outdoor rugs with incredible styles and in a variety of sizes.

I’m a neutral kind-of-girl and for me, a simple black and sand jute rug will work wonders. This one in particular was the winner between 4 options that I had, at one point, on my cart. But now that I think of it, I should’ve brought home one more 😉 (just in case). A rug always helps in framing an area and adds that extra hint of elegance in a decor.

Add lighting:

One of my favorite finds at HomeGoods was this wood beaded chandelier. I was so surprised when I saw this beauty hanging from one of the columns in the store. My face must have showed my excitement when I reach for this beauty and placed it on my cart. I’ve seen many of this beautiful pendant used in spectacular indoor decor on social media and now I was so happy to have finally found one.

Back at my home, setting this chandelier was not difficult at all. Keep in mind that this was only available as a frame and that the lighting part was done on my side. Although if used in the outdoors; you should use an appropriate fixture/cable for it.

I have to confess that day and night, this is the piece in our outdoor area that I’m loving the most!

Play with your accessories:

Remember to teat your outdoor coffee table almost the same way you would treat your indoor one. Here, besides playing with height and the proportion of these accessories, I kept in mind that they could eventually get wet. So my candle and decorative bird feeder are both for outdoor use. I placed the candle on a rustic look plate to go along the little feeder. I also use some beautiful ceramic planters (from HomeGoods) and added some sun loving plants.

Outdoor pillows are a must:

No matter the size of your furniture pieces, outdoor decorative pillows will enhance the look of your decor. I’ve chosen a rustic tile design on mine that mixes very well with the rest of the pieces.

Another idea to add more sitting space would be a floor pillow. This one, that I found at HomeGoods, is weather resistant and can be either hanged from a hook on a wall, or stored below the coffee table.

I additionally added more planters to this area and also a amazing oversize vase with holes that will create a beautiful and subtle illumination at night with a candle placed inside.

As you’ve seen you can recreate your indoor decor in your outdoor space by adding pieces that speak to your style. Not necessarily all the accessories are required to be outdoor. Think outside the box and get adventurous when you go finding at HomeGoods.
