Get Organized for the New Year

Furniture and Home Accents Organization and Cleaning

My new year started off on the wrong foot. I was extremely sick with the flu but as soon as I was feeling better, I wanted to organize and purge my home. Many of you know I was working hard to organize various parts of my home in a short amount of time. In the end, everything turned out exactly how I wanted. The best part is that the house looks cleaner and now has more space.

This is how the room looked like before the organization. This room was a small office space that no one ever utilized. It was the room where we put anything we didn’t want or need. It was just the forgotten room.

This is how it looks after my organization. The first thing I did was take everything out and separate it into keep and donate piles. Let me tell you it wasn’t easy to get rid of some things but if it had been 1 or 2 years since it had been used, you most likely won’t use it again. I feel like I have a huge weight lifted off my shoulders since I donated so much!

This dresser was one I already had in my home. It was a brown color and of course I had to put my own personal touch of glamour. I used a custom color I made in store because I believe that makes it more personal. You don’t always have to follow the rules do you? The handles I painted in a gold color and the end result was breathtaking. Simply fabulous!

In this picture you can see a small closet in my home and to be honest it was hugely unorganized. I’m a person that loves to entertain throughout the year and this is why I have so much tableware, silverware, glasses, etc. When I buy one thing, I have to buy at least 30 or 40 more because that’s how many people I usually have over when I entertain.

Since there is so many drawers, I was able to store more silverware, serving spoons, napkins, tablecloths, etc, etc.

This bookshelf I had in this room already served as a storage space for all of my things. 25 cubes to fill and store my most precious treasures.

My china for special occasions now has a new home! I can see exactly what I have and know where to find it when the time to use them comes. Many times I see other dishes I like but then I think about the lack of space I have and opt out on buying them. Now, I don’t have to leave them behind as I have tons of space to add to my collection.

These cabinets are above the dresser because as mentioned before, it was an office space previously. Making this room into a walk in pantry closet gave me more space to add these clear containers that I found at HomeGoods where I can organize everything for my parties. Everything is at arms reach and with the clear containers its easy to access. I’ll admit I found things I didn’t even know I had! Super cool! (It’s important to add labels to know whateach container holds).
