Finally cooler temperatures have arrived to our city and this means more night times in our patio. This year summer was harsh, but now that we are getting those under 50℉, s’mores, hot chocolate and fire pits are on our to-do list.

For me, setting an area where my family can spend a happy time during this season, is the fun part.

I start by taking out throws and having them close by in a basket so everyone can get cozy and warm. I found some amazing choices in different styles and fabrics at HomeGoods, but since I’m always attracted to neutral, my choices stayed within a gray palette. The good thing about this color is that I can use these throws throughout the year and they will go with almost any type of décor.

I also placed on our little outdoor area some pillows. I recently bought these amazing set of chunky knitted ones at HomeGoods that bring that warm feeling. Other options I also love using were these gray velvet ones with a contemporary design.

To set the atmosphere in this little corner of ours, I placed some pillar candles. I love these birch bark covered pillars because their textures remind me of fresh picked wood to throw at a bonfire. If only we had snow!!!

Another great find from HomeGoods were these large concrete ornaments with some Christmas theme cutouts which look perfect at night with a small battery operated votive candle. And how about these plastic (I know, they look like real mercury glass) pendant ornaments?!?! Love their size and how they add just the right Christmas touch in this area.

Now, for the adults, why not add some wine in these red wine glasses from I just got from HomeGoods. How about this elegant “just-the-right-size” marble board for some old Manchego cheese? Love the hexagon pattern and mix of grays and whites.

While cooler temperatures are not that common here in Miami, we’re planning on enjoying every second of it. Today was a wine & cheese night; but maybe tomorrow we’ll enjoy some roasted marshmallows in the fire pit. Who knows, the possibilities are endless and right now we are living the moment… that is, a cold moment!
