Friends. It’s been in the 80’s here in Massachusetts and it’s a little difficult to get in the apple picking mood when you are sweating and enjoying the AC indoors (I am not complaining…trust me) but that won’t stop us. Apple picking and visiting the pumpkin patch in September and October are two huge traditions in our house and each year, we head to our local apple orchard, go for a wagon ride and fill our bags full of apples. Today I am sharing our baking extravaganza, one stop shop with HomeGoods.

Each year I try to add a few new things to our bakeware collection and what better place than Homegoods? You seriously can get name brand items at a great price, as well as some pretty amazing gourmet bread and muffin mixes. Have you seen their gourmet food section lately? Oh. My. Goodness.

I recently picked up all new mixing bowls, stainless steel measuring cups, pumpkin muffin tins, pottery bread pan, and new fall linens at Homegoods and I was thrilled with their Fall linen collection. Sometimes I try to deviate from the traditional Fall orange and brown colors just because it’s fun to try something new but not this year. I couldn’t pass up the fabulous leaf and brown paisley linens. They coordinate so nicely together.

My son and I made the muffins and bread one day after school and the bread mix was so delicious. Simply add apple sauce, an egg and milk and that’s it!

The cinnamon muffins were out of this world with the simple addition of sour cream and an egg. Easy prep, easy clean up, and easy on the belly!

We needed new mixing bowls and these heavy duty plastic ones in different sizes were perfect. They stack nicely and fit in our storage drawer full of bakeware. I do love the mixing bowls with a pour spout but they don’t stack easily and take up more storage space, which we lack.

I know what some of you are thinking, does she really set up her baked goods in a pretty display? -ha. In this case, I did set up a small sweet apple and treat station for my son’s play date and you would be amazed that even 11 year old boys recognize a nice display when they see one.

They asked, “Are we allowed to eat this stuff?” I said, “Only the apples.” Haha! I got a few eye rolls and then they laughed. Whether you are entertaining for your own family, 11 year old boys or your adult friends, this little station took all of five minutes to create.

Layer your tablescape with a bunched up tablecloth, drape a coordinating linen napkin over a cake stand to elevate your muffin and scatter festive paper napkins and other linens to feature your other treats. Grab some grocery store flowers like I did, or HomeGoods has a great faux floral/plant section, and place them in a vase or pretty container ( I used a metal bucket) as your backdrop and that’s it! Happy baking and hope you all are enjoying the Fall season and creating your own family memories at the orchard or pumpkin patch.
