Pink for Spring: Living Room Refresh

If you follow my blog, Inspired by Charm, you probably know what my living room looks like. Thanks to my much-admired graphic rug, this space seems to have become synonymous with my work. For several years, whenever I shared an image of my living room, people went gaga for the rug. I loved it, too, but the rug’s color scheme limited what colors I could use in the room.

This past winter, I envisioned pulling reds and greens into the space to create a more traditional holiday look. That meant the rug had to go. (Don’t worry — if you’re a fan of it, it’s tucked safely away in my attic for future use.) I replaced it with something neutral to give me more flexibility in the space regardless of the time of year.

With the holidays long gone and another winter almost behind us, I thought it was time to update my living room for spring. As you might have guessed, my first stop for inspiration was HomeGoods. Going into the store, I had a few color schemes in mind. However, when I saw these floral pillows in navy and pink, I knew I had a winner. I never imagined using pink in this space, but I welcomed the change and something fresh for springtime.

Into my cart, went the pillows along with several new vases for the mantel, a couple bunnies for good measure and a few other fun accessories.

Once I was back home, I immediately got to decorating. Using a few things I already had, the room came together quickly. Being a blogger, I realize how lucky I am to have an excuse to change my spaces fairly often. It’s so much fun for me. Having a neutral backdrop (walls, sofa, carpet) makes the transition simple.

If you’re ever looking to refresh a space like a living room. I suggest starting with textiles. Something as easy as swapping out your rug or changing your throw pillows can make a big difference.

As a final touch, I added plants, greenery and flowers, which are a must for spring.

I also couldn’t resist this marble bunny. I think it might be among my favorite HomeGoods finds. Little touches like this keep a space from being too serious and connect it with the season.

And that was it!

It never fails to amaze me how a few simple and inexpensive touches can alter the look and feel of a room. You can’t tell that there are still piles of snow just outside that window, can you?

A refreshed space is a welcome retreat when you’ve had enough of winter weather. Plus, now I have a head start on my spring decorating. That’s a win-win! I hope you’re feeling inspired to transform an area in your home for the season ahead.
