Shopping for a Blue Master Bedroom Makeover

It’s hard to believe it’s mid February and the new year is well on its way. Where does the time go? I am in the process of updating our master bedroom for winter and decided blue was going to be the accent color.

I never have a plan in mind when it comes to updating or making over an entire room. It really depends on what I have at home, and if I am purchasing a few new things, it hinges on what jumps off the shelves and says, “Buy me!”

I put together this inspiration board full of items that I bought from HomeGoods. As you can see, the blush colored pillows and throw coordinate nicely with the blue medallion bedding and home accents. When I was shopping at HomeGoods I came across this fabulous bed in a bag and was immediately drawn to it.

Some of you may remember our Christmas master bedroom from last year. Originally a deep navy, we painted the room white and decorated it with red accents and plaid bedding from HomeGoods. Once I removed all of the holiday bedding and decor, I had an empty white room to work with. I want to add new bedding along with a few of these gorgeous blue vases.

I plan on leaving my existing drapes, area rug and furniture, of course. The walls were already white, so my goal was to find artwork — as shown on the inspiration board — and decorative accents that would coordinate with blue.

Truth be told, I had a hard time deciding on what kind of lamp to buy. I was originally drawn to a lamp with a metallic base, but as I planned, I settled on the one in the inspiration board. I felt the navy blue lamp shade would look nice against a white wall.

My husband was thrilled with the idea of a blue bedroom because he thinks it’s more masculine. Little does he know, I plan on adding a few feminine touches with pillows, artwork and throws.

I am still on the hunt for wall art that has pops of blush, coral and a little yellow. I found one picture in my mom’s storage closet that I think will look perfect. It’s always nice when you shop your home and are successful!

Stay tuned for the full reveal next week!
