As one of the most visited spaces in our homes, bathrooms are often in need of a quick fix. And now is the perfect time to start off the year with a renewed look to make this area feel fresh once again. To help you with your bathroom,  I’m sharing some foolproof tips to transform this space.

1. Color your walls
To give this bathroom a new start, I began by choosing a completely different color.

Since “Greenery” is Pantone’s Color of the Year, I picked a slightly darker version to achieve a tranquil look.

2. Hang art
Personalize your bathroom by hanging art on its walls. They don’t need to be originals, but try to pick pieces that will speak to your style.

I found a lovely canvas at HomeGoods that perfectly matched the color of the walls and carried that serene feeling throughout. Behind the toilet, I placed a set of rustic metal planks that I made a while ago using simple home materials. You can find that tutorial here.

3. Flowers and plants
Nothing says freshness more than a couple of natural flowers and plants.

On top of our bathroom vanity, I placed a bouquet of white tall flower stems in a clear vase to add height and create contrast.

I also added a pothos plant on the window sill inside the shower. This plant can live with just water (instead of soil) for long periods of time.

4. Replace old towels
The feel of new towels is priceless! To bring this bathroom back to life, I replaced a couple of my old towels with new, plush ones.

This time around I chose sets that had an interesting texture and embroidered little details for an elegant look. Since I wanted to keep a tranquil aesthetic, I opted for neutral colors.

Even though I liked the more minimal look of my previous bathroom, I love how these small changes gave this room a refreshed and different feel. I kept some elements that had proven to work wonders, like baskets to store toiletry items and towels, as well as the apothecary glass vases for keeping soaps and cotton balls at hand. Now my new year’s mantra is “small changes for a great impact!”
