Let’s be honest, what do you love the most about getting a gift? I have to confess that the thing I love the most is the originality of it and knowing it was a well-thought-out item selected just for me.

Wouldn’t it be nice to do the same for others? Personalizing presents for the ones that we love expresses our feelings towards them without even saying a word. Making others feel extra special has the reciprocal advantage of making us all feel happy!

For Mother’s Day, I’ve arranged a list of some special women in my life and beside each of their names, I listed their hobbies or interests. This year I’ll be giving them all the same gift (yes, you read that correctly), but with a twist: each one will have it specially personalized to their likes and tastes. At HomeGoods, I found a bell jar that inspired a few ideas on how to customize it for each of my moms.

1. The Gardener

She enjoys every moment of gardening, from the small blooms to the water resistant plants.

My gardening mother will appreciate having this bell jar as her private tiny greenhouse.

2. The Deco Enthusiast

For a decor fanatic, I’m transforming this bell jar into a lamp. By removing the rope on the top and replacing it with a light bulb cord (available in many hardware stores or online), this make the perfect statement gift.

Depending on how adventurous your mom is, try choosing a shocking bright cable.

3. The Baker

Throw in some cookbooks, a beautiful kitchen towel, wooden utensils (for a vintage-y cute touch) and your gift is all set.

What a piece of cake!

4. Candle Lover

This mom needs and believes in a Zen state of mind. Provide her with enough battery operated candles so she can have an enlightened evening and a harmonious life.

I think that each one of these moms will be more than happy to receive their personalized and special gifts.

This Mother’s Day, are you making any special gift? What twist are you giving to it?
