It starts with a simple instinct — something that stops you in your tracks and makes you inexplicably happy. That is your starting point!
For my daughter, it was the gold lion bookends — homage to our former New Jersey home dubbed “the lion house” to all who lived nearby. (To learn how we “tamed” it, read here.)
Gold is making a comeback! This wonderfully warm metallic can rejuvenate the bedroom with a hint of Hollywood glam. The problem, however, was that she had no existing gold tones in her room. None. But we didn’t let that stop us from incorporating it into her existing bedroom design.
We found a striking gold and ivory geometric print curtain for the back of her canopy bed that seemed to confirm that we were on the right track. You can’t go wrong with a gold accent pillow (which is surprisingly soft!).
We were thrilled to find a simple piece of art for the wall, a gold table lamp and small votive holder.
The gold looks fabulous with her existing shades of blue.
One of the most dramatic finds was this shapely gold mirror, which tied in nicely with the geometric curtains.
And here’s a view from the other side of the room.
She loves the Midas Touch we put on her room and I love that I spent under $200! But more importantly, I got to spend a fun day shopping with my teen daughter at HomeGoods. And that is priceless!
