Summer is here, and my patio remodel is complete! A few months ago, we decided to give our side yard a new look, and we managed to pull it all together, just in time for summer.

This yard is not huge, but we designed it to suit our family’s needs, as well as maximize the space. It’s right off of our kitchen, so it was the perfect area for a barbecue and an outdoor dining set up.

To keep things simple and low maintenance, we decided to use creative hardscape. We added two foot pavers, set on the diagonal, with artificial grass in between. I also gave the red brick on the exterior of the house a new look by using a white washing technique.

Once everything was complete, it was time to start decorating! We created a contemporary yet traditional design, so I wanted my furnishings to fit this style as well. I was ecstatic to find four of the most gorgeous outdoor chairs at HomeGoods, and I fell in love immediately!

When I first saw them at the store, I left without buying them. When I went back a few days later, they were gone — I was so disappointed! But as I was heading up to the register to purchase a few other things, I saw the chairs in the holding area. Turns out, someone had purchased them, they didn’t fit in her space, so she returned them. There they were, my four gorgeous chairs. You better believe I grabbed them right away!

A few days later, I found a great outdoor coffee table on sale. It all fit perfectly in the space, which was a dream come true.

I found these lovely blush, lumbar pillows that I knew would look great on the chairs.  The only problem was they were not outdoor pillows. My solution? I gave them a coat of outdoor fabric protection, so now they work outdoors as well.

The finishing touches are the icing on the cake! I’ve used vases, trays and dining accessories from HomeGoods to create the perfect place to relax and enjoy the summer. I also like to add in some vintage pieces, like these pink depression glasses. The larger ones are melamine, and are perfect for outdoors!

I knew I wanted to add in a couple lanterns for evening candlelight, so when I found these gorgeous, white-washed wood ones, I was very happy! They make the space look amazing, cozy and romantic in the evenings.

We added cafe lights along the fence, brought out our gas firepit, a few more candles and a couple cozy blankets. I have a feeling we’re going to be spending many warm summer nights out here!
