Warmer days call for outdoor enjoyment. And now that the weather is so nice outside, it’s time to start updating our patio with some new accessories. Incorporating new pieces with the ones that I already own gives this space a new look without needing to invest a fortune.

We had a pergola finished last year and it has been a wonderful area to place sitting and dining furniture. Lately, I’ve kept this space as a conversational area.

I updated its look by adding a few new outdoor pillows I found at HomeGoods. They have a subtle but beautiful pattern that mixes very well with my old zebra and medallion ones.

I love gardening and I confess that I have a thing for succulents. I found these amazing terra cotta planters at HomeGoods that add just the right touch of rustic with their rich texture. I also have used these in the past as dinner table centerpieces and I love the look. You can see how I’ve set this area here.

Before entering this area, there was a blank (read: boring) tall wall and I cannot tell you how much it bothered me to see it. I solved this eyesore by adding battery operated lanterns.

These come with a timer and look amazing at night.

To give my greenery a fresh look, I also updated some of my outdoor planters.

I chose a few simple white ones in varied sizes with beautiful geometric patterns.

I found a ceramic multi-opening planter at HomeGoods that is usually used for planting herbs. Since I have a not-so-green-thumb, I’ve opted for some drought tolerant succulents.

This arrangement is incredibly easy to take care of, but it’s important to remember that they dislike over-watering. So, I try to keep it to once every other week.

As you can see, with some minimal changes, an outdoor area can come to life in just a matter of minutes. I love spending time on our patio, and you’ll find me here gardening or just admiring all that nature has to offer.
