Sunday is the end of Daylight Saving Time — it’s also a good time to make some changes in the bedroom, as you turn back the clocks to enjoy that extra hour of sleep! The weather is getting colder, and it’s the perfect time to add new layers of comfort and coziness.

I have this faux fur rug that I found last winter at HomeGoods. I put it away for the warmer months, but now is the perfect time to bring it back out. I’ve placed it at the foot of my bed, under my bench. That soft, extra warmth under the toes is the perfect way to start your day!

A nice warm blanket over the foot of the bed is ready to be pulled up for extra comfort on those extra cold nights.

It’s also a good time to evaluate your pillows! Are you having any trouble sleeping lately? It may be time to shop for a few new pillows. Although you only really need one to rest your head on, a few more with added texture and coziness will enhance the new, warmer feel of your bed.

Add a vase of fresh lavender or a candle to your bedside for a relaxing, soothing aroma.

A bouquet of beautiful flowers will make your room feel special, too.

A few more tips I’ve found helpful to improve sleep are: commit to 7-8 hours of sleep; keep a regular sleep schedule; avoid caffeine before bed; and eat light at night.
