A Seasonal Color Refresh for a White Kitchen

Just because I love red accents doesn’t mean I don’t want a fresh change every once in a while. My kitchen is a neutral canvas of white, charcoal and brick. When we renovated the kitchen a couple years ago (here), red accents spiced up the space and made me smile.

I still like red, but I like other colors too. My rainbow assortment of dishes proves my eclectic taste in color! I chose beaded glass cupboard doors so I could see them all the time!

Time for summer-friendly blues and greens to take center stage! A quick trip to HomeGoods for a few key accents gave me the new pops of color I needed!

Because I selected a new fruit basket without color, I found a pretty dish towel to drape along the bottom rack. Bonus: the colorful fruit pair nicely with my dishes.

Fresh flowers and a new dish soap dispenser brought a little extra form and function to the sink.

Roosters are big here in Newtown, so a pretty blue coffee canister, along with a new (larger) coffee cup makes a great start to the day. The green vase was a vintage HomeGoods piece, and was dressed up with tissue flowers my youngest made at school.

Brick is a surprising neutral — the red was great there, but I was pleased at how adding a green teapot and oven mitts changed the feel of the space.

For now, I’m excited to see the soft blues and sharp greens play against the white cabinets and dark countertops.

But I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing red again sometime soon.
