Graduation season is just around the corner. Hosting a celebratory gathering can be as easy as inviting friends over for dessert. Satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth with a dessert buffet table that is pretty and organized, as well as delicious. All it takes is a little patience and creative styling. Go ahead, you can do this!

1. Gather your cake stand, platters, pedestals and linens.

2. Use a sturdy table and cover it with a table cloth.

3. Get some height. Vary the height of the dessert stands and platters.

Design tip: Use a shelf to elevate desserts.

4. Add a back drop. We used a simple white plastic to cover the windows on the porch and added paper flowers in neutral colors.

Design tip: Pick back drop which coordinates with your theme or colors.

5. Decorate your table using flowers, balloons, streamers and lanterns.

Design tip: Keep it simple. Pick one color theme or use monochromatic colors. Let the desserts be the focus.

6. Bake or buy desserts and place them on cake stands and plates. We kept it simple with a naked cake from our local bakery.

Design tip: Vary your desserts and flavors. Select bite-size desserts, if possible. Balance a fancy cake with a more simple dessert selection.

Dessert tables are a wonderful addition to any party. I found my cake stand, platters, shelf and vase all at HomeGoods.

The graduate will be delighted when they see a dessert table that is delicious and visually appealing, created by you for all to enjoy. What are your favorite treats to bring to a graduation party?
